GIRL’S SOCCER
The Titan girl's soccer team made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive year, and for the third time in the school's short history. The Titans were eliminated in the first round by 5th ranked Lake Oswego by a score of 0-3.

The team finished with an overall record of 5-6-4, and a league record of 4-4-4 which was enough to earn the 4th playoff spot from the Central Valley Conference.

Senior, AliRae Aguirre led the team in scoring with 6 goals, including 4 header goals. Junior, Nicole Marsaglia led the team with 5 assists.

BOY’S SOCCER
It was a really good and fun year. The boys ended up finishing second in the Central Valley league and hosted a home playoff game. We were ranked as high as 10th in the state .We lost to Southridge 2-1 in a very hard fought emotional game. We hit the post a couple times and really were unlucky not to score a couple more goals. We had a very talented and seasoned team. We had ten seniors that comprised of 6 of our starters. I really appreciated how hard the boys worked this year. They not only were teammates but friends on and off the field. You could tell by how they treated each other that they really cared about each other. I am hoping that the team next year can have as much fun and team work as hard as this group did. Every game we played I think the boys gave me 100% to the end.

Jamie Edison was honorable mention. At the state tournament they lost to Sam Barlow in the first round 12-6.

WINTER SPORTS

SWIMMING

Boys:
We will have a bit smaller team this year but a very strong one! Evan Folz and Mitch McClain lead a very hard working team. For years other teams and coaches look at West and think we are out of control but when we are in the water we train harder than another team. I am very proud of them. Evan and Mitch will be the captains and have good skills in leading. The team is looking forward to rebounding from finishing 4th last year to winning this season and send several kids to state. Juniors who are very strong include Alex Edison, Patrick DeJarnatt, and Daniel Morgan. Sophomores Jamie Edison and Marshall Wells will add depth and will improve very much!

Girls:This years squad is going to be very strong and young. Michelle Jasmer is from North Bend and is the 5A state champ and now she is ours! She is a sophomore and very good. We also have several new freshman that could be district champs this year. Senior Courtney Klosterman brings a lot of leadership. She was team captain last year for swimming and a starter on the girls varsity soccer team this year.

BOYS BASKETBALL

We just finished our 2nd practice of our basketball season. We have somewhere between 9-11 boys out preparing for the football playoffs.

Several of these players are returning or projected varsity players for our upcoming season. We are hoping that these players go deep into the football playoffs. In the meantime we will be sharing about 14 players between our JV and varsity teams. It will be tough for awhile but in the long run it is a great experience for the football kids and gives our younger kids an opportunity to play while we are waiting. I think most CVC coaches will pick the Titans to be a playoff team this season.

If all our players stay healthy, there is no reason we should not challenge for another league championship. We have 4 out of 5 starters back from last season with 4 or 5 players ready to step in and play some quality minutes. It should be an exciting season.

Our motto this season is: "West is...Back on Track!"

Check out the showcase in the upstairs hall next to the concession stand.
