WE NEED YOUR HELP !!!!!!!!!!!
As boosters we are always looking for ways to help fund many of the items that are needed by the various sports teams and groups at West Salem High School. Over the past couple of years we have been getting approvals in place to build softball and baseball dugouts and equipment storage facilities for the softball and baseball teams at the high school. Our teams have been without any real dugouts or storage since the school opened.
The diamonds are located on city property that is shared with the school so the approvals had to not only come from the school district, but also the city of Salem. Those approvals have now been obtained and we are ready to pull permits to begin construction.
Our goal is to have the dugouts completed in time for the spring baseball and softball seasons. In order to do that we need to start construction right away.
We need money and volunteers to do this.
We currently have two projects going that will give us a big boost toward that goal.
The “Trip Raffle” and the “Concrete Block Sales”. Both are described in more detail later on in this newsletter.
The raffle ticket sales are off to a slow start. To date we have sold less than 200 tickets of the 4,000 that need to be sold by February 4th, 2008.
So what we are asking is if you would buy some tickets and, just as important, if you know of others who would be willing to purchase tickets. An order form for the tickets is available on the website or you can have them contact me. This project alone will net over $20,000 toward the dugouts.
You can designate $3 from each ticket you sell or purchase toward a specific team at West Salem or you can designate the entire amount toward the dugout project.
We are also “selling” concrete blocks for $25 each to be donated toward the dugouts.
The order forms are on our website at www.titanathleticboosters.org .
We have a very short time to get the money in and so really need your help now.
Thank you for all of your support.

The girls are looking forward to basketball season and being a little warmer, but they will continue the spirit they showed us at football games!
Ashley Albers should be recognized for her leadership on and off the field, she is a team leader and always a role model for the other cheerleaders!

BOY’S BASKETBALL - "West is...Back on Track!"
We are 1-3 in non-conference games so far. We have now had 3 practices
with our football/basketball players.
Jordan Bishop will practice for the first time today. He had fluid drained from a back injury he suffered in the semi-final game.
It will take us awhile to round into shape but when everything is said and done I think we have a good chance to challenge for a league title.
We have a two game tournament at West Linn this Friday and Saturday- December 14 & 15. We play Aloha Friday and Southridge on Saturday night.
We play Sunset at home next Tuesday, December 18 and go down to Medford for a holiday tournament Dec. 27-29th.

AQUATICS - http://home.comcast.net/~titanaquatics/site
Boys: So far the boys are doing really good. The boys lost to Southridge HS by 6 points but swam really well. Then went to Springfield for a relay meet where again they swam really well. Then against Sprague the boys won by 14 points. Then over last weekend the team went to Dallas and got 2nd out of 6 teams. Next we swim against South Salem and South Eugene.
Key swimmers are Evan Folz, Mitch McClain, Victor Bogkato, Alex Edison, Daniel Morgan, and Jamie Edison.
Girls: The girls lost to Southridge but set 3 school records in the process. At Springfield we learned a lot about the team and got a lot better. Then against Sprague they won by 20 points and set 3 records. This is the first time we have beaten the Sprague girls team. Then over the weekend they won at Dallas against 6 other teams. This is the first time the girls have won the meet. They set 4 more records and got a lot better. They are doing really well.
The girls are Courtney Klosterman, Jennifer Rodgers, Michelle Jasmer, Breann Kinsey, Emma Kraft, Kristin Bronson, Jacqueline Tran. Ellen Bentson, Ellen Sveldanak, MacKenzie Green, Nicole Green, Megan Chong, and Allison Culver.

GIRL’S BASKETBALL
This year's West Salem Girls Basketball team has high hopes to again contend for a league title and continue the tradition of success that has become expected of Titan Girls Basketball. Although off to a slow start record wise, the Titans are currently 2-5, they have shown steady progress as they grind through a tough pre-season schedule.
Kira Lyon has been the most consistent scorer thus far for West Salem and all of her off-season work to improve her game is paying great dividends. Claire Coba, Rachel Fischer, Kristen Connolly, Kylie Morin, Tracy Kumm, and Katelyn Davis have all had some very good games and will be key contributors in the Titans quest for a 3rd league title in the last 4 years.
Overall, this is a tremendous group of young ladies that are eager to prove that they are the best team in the Central Valley Conference.
Coach Unruh
